Greek Government
After the Persian Wars, one of Athens’ greatest leaders, Pericles, emerged. By 460 B.C., Pericles was the strongest leader in Athens. He remained the leader until his death 31 years later. The Greek government is mainly direct Democracy, although they technically had four. In direct Democracy, all citizens participate in running the government. America, in a way, has the same type of government. In about 430 B.C., Pericles gave his view of democracy in a speech honoring Athenian soldiers killed in war. “Everyone is equal before the law,” he said.
